The bad: rooms with a harbor view are nice but are a) subject to loud noise from partiers at local bars well past midnight. b) facing south and on those few sunny days, like an oven with no a/c as is common in northern Europe. |The location is fantastic with the entrance 1 block uphill from the bars and tourist shops. Rooms are a good size, with large comforters. A king bed is two singles pushed together so cuddling is limited without falling in between. The tub/shower is good but a climb for older guests and the shower gets the floor wet no matter what you do. Rooms are serviced every 4 days unless otherwise requested. |The front desk people are very helpful, arranging for taxis and supplying a nice to go breakfast bag if requested in advance. The bar is very limited. Breakfast is good with a large dining room and lots of hot and cold choices. Afternoon fika is a nice bit of sweet cakes, coffees and teas. We passed on the included dinner in favor of dining out, even if pricey. Taxi from the airport runs about $100 US. |Overall a good stay in a great location with good service.

Wir können wirklich nichts negatives über unseren Aufenthalt sagen.
Die Lage ist hervorragend, man kann alles schnell zu Fuß erreichen.
Die Zimmer und auch das Hotel an sich haben wirklich einen eigenen Charme, der uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Alles ist sehr stimmig und gemütlich eingerichtet.
Frühstück und Abendessen haben für uns alles hergegeben, was man braucht.

Gerade wenn man sich den Preis ansieht für das Zimmer inkl. Halbpension wurden unsere Erwartungen übertroffen.

Aufgefallen ist das wirklich sehr freundliche Personal. Alle waren durchweg hilfsbereit und gastfreundlich.

Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

I have made a review for years but felt this was necessary. I have stayed in Bergen before in a smaller hotel of same group a little bit away from Bryggen though very enjoyable stay. I chose Home Hotel because if offered half board which was a big disappointment, the evening meal option for 3 out of 4 nights was pasta, and/or salad with pasta! Yes there was soup but a bowl of soup does not constitute an evening dinner. The quality of the dinner option was not good the Lasagne which was served from foil trays was so mushy & undefinable. The non pasta night was pork which was not enjoyable either. We chose to go our for dinner on the last night as wanted something better. Thankfully we found good lunch options around the city to compensate. On the up side the breakfast was fabulous, great choice and very tasty, something to suit everyone.|The room we had faced Rosenkrantzgaten 3 which is where the entrance to the hotel is. We like to have fresh air during sleeping and opened our bedroom window just on the 'night' lock but due to the noise from the bar/club opposite we had to shut it but even then the noise from the music and the people outside (screaming at times) the club was terrible and went on until 3 am. Friday and Saturday the worst but some noise on Sunday night too. |I imagine if there were other rooms available in the hotel they would fill these before offering the rooms facing the club, surely! therefore I did not see the point of asking to be moved but advice for anyone booking a room ask for a room away from that club.

I have stayed at a Home Hotel before ( in Helsinki ) and so thought my experience would be a positive one. Unfortunately, not so !|My reasons..|1. Rooms very dark. I normally don't mind subdued lighting but the lighting here was so dim that, in the morning, it was hard to find things and my partner struggled to do her make up properly.|2. Room not serviced. The Hotel claimed ( for Green reasons ) to only service the room after 3 nights. We stayed 4 nights and the room was not serviced at all. When we raised with Reception, there was no apology and we had to ask for clean towels.|3. Food Quality. Breakfast was just about ok but Evening meals were distinctly average and billed as 3 courses where Soup and Salad were classed as 2 of the courses. No dessert was on offer.|4. Bath Drainage. When unplugging after a bath, water came through the base of the bath and over the tiny grate, saturating the bathroom floor. This made using the bathroom impossible until we had mopped up the water using our towels. Very poor.

Great location and the restaurant has delicious breakfast buffets. Not the best room experience though. The bathroom is narrow, tub has a tall side so you have to be careful climbing in and out of it, and the entire bathroom is raised about 8” from the room. It needs some minor maintenance like the clothes hook on the door can use some tightening so clothes don’t swing around on it. Really conveniently located to the UNESCO wharf-front buildings and shops.

Slightly tired hotel. Super position. Room was good although Bathroom was small and awkwardly shaped. We overlooked the harbour. You could walk easily to all Bergen has to offer. We did half board and the dinners were adequate, quantity not quality. Breakfast was good. This hotel really caters for the tour groups rather than independent travellers. Staff very friendly.

Wir hatten als Familie ein Familienzimmer, welches sehr schön und ausreichend groß war. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet und es gab eine kostenlose Vesper, die allerdings jeden Tag aus dem exakt gleichen Kuchen bestand. Das Abendessen war im Preis mit inbegriffen, allerdings lange nicht so üppig, wie das Frühstück. Das Personal war sehr höflich und die Lage war sehr zentrumsnah. Parken war allerdings nur im Parkhaus möglich und musste extra bezahlt werden.

We stayed here for 2 nights, we reserved for an early check in but our room wasnt available, they were nice enough to upgrade us to the family room which was spacious with 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. The breakfast was delicious and the dinner was simple with different for each day. Very good location, mins away from the cable car and boardwalk. Bergen is a nice town and we wish the weather was better but cant control that.
