I'm writing about my experience at this place. Not that expressing my feelings about it would make a single bit of difference; it never does when it comes to people like me, but I'm saying it anyway. I'm a tourist in Oslo, and yesterday (Monday, October 6th) I was exploring and comparing pizzas from different places in the area. I went there around 6:30 PM, and the door was locked. I knocked, and Sandio - the guy in the chef's uniform behind the counter (pictured) - came out to talk to me. He informed me that the place has been closed for about a month now to make some changes, and tomorrow, which means today (Tuesday, October 7th), it will open its doors again and serve free pizza from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. He said to come then. I told him that I'm a visitor and was a little surprised that the door was closed at that time. Today I popped in to check out the pizza. I sat at that table with the book (pictured). Rodrigo (pictured) came to ask me what I wanted to drink. I told him I wanted water – I said water because I don’t drink alcohol, and that’s the easiest thing to be about. He said with an air of irritation and insult, “You can’t come here just to eat free pizza. You have to order a drink.” That said, he gave me the impression that he was about to tell me to leave – why I can’t tell you; what did I do wrong; I can’t tell you either. It was like I didn’t belong; like I was an intruder who got in and he was about to throw me out. So I told him calmly, “I came here because this guy (pointing his finger at Sandio) tried me yesterday.” He said, “This guy?” I said, “Yes. This guy.” When Rodrigo heard me say that, he softened a little and said, “Here’s a menu, just take a look at it.” I felt uneasy inside. His tone and demeanor, which simply told me I had to order a drink, was completely inappropriate. When I asked for water, especially since it was clear I was a tourist (he spoke to me in a different language at first, and I said I didn't understand until the conversation about the drink), he could have said, "Oh, you have to order a drink to get the pizza." Simple, right?!! I wasn't there to beg, but I felt like I was being treated like a beggar. I still remained calm and collected. I took the menu, looked at it, and found the non-alcoholic section. After that, I had the feeling that if it was possible for the people at the place to magically put a curtain at my table and make me disappear, it would have been done. They could remove the annoyance they were experiencing just because I was there with a knife. Finally, I couldn't be ignored any longer, so Rodrigo came back and said, "What do you want?" I said, "I'll have the soft drink (I had closed the menu and put it away since I didn't expect anyone to come and talk to me again), so he opened the menu again and I pointed my finger at the lemonade. He went and came back with the lemonade. Later he asked me if I wanted vegetarian pizza or something else that I didn't understand. I'm vegetarian. Anyway, to make a long story short, I got a pizza from someone else since my table didn't have any. I ate half of it. Then I asked Rodrigo for the bill. I said, "I'd like to pay for the pizza I got." He said, "It's free." I said, "No. Thanks. I'd like to pay for it." He and the manager took the money. LOL. I paid 70NOK for the lemonade and 240NOK for the free pizza that everyone else in these pictures got for free. It doesn't bother me that I paid for free pizza to save my dignity. What bothers me is that everyone else was welcome to come and get free pizza, and my presence in the mix was not welcomed the way everyone else was welcomed. This situation was a good example of what I have observed in Norway since I arrived. The subtle racial hostility towards dark-skinned people of African descent in Norway. Thanks, Sandio, for the invitation. If everyone there was as welcoming as you were to me, I probably would have had a great time. Thank you for letting me use the bathroom.

Honestly, pretty disappointed. I came here because people said they make “authentic Neapolitan pizza,” but it really didn’t live up to the hype.

The dough was soft but undercooked in the middle — it just fell apart when I picked up a slice. The crust wasn’t crispy, more rubbery than anything. The tomato sauce tasted sour, like it came from a can, and the cheese melted into greasy clumps.

I waited almost 40 minutes for my order even though the place wasn’t busy. The staff tried to be friendly, but you could tell they knew things weren’t going great.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but for the price and the reputation, I expected way better. I probably wouldn’t come back — there are plenty of spots in town that serve truly good pizza, not just “Neapolitan-style” in name only.
