Fantastic experience. I had the salmon & my husband had the pig wings (pork shanks.) Both were prepared perfectly & presented beautifully. Although we were full, we saw some apple cake that we had to try. This was served heated with ice cream & whipped cream & berry sauce drizzled overall. It was superb! The service was impeccable. The ambiance is understated and calming with views of the fjord.

Food prepared with care and made from scratch. We split a lovely entree of chicken breast stuffed with cheese and apricot, wrapped in a piece of bacon, served with carrot puree, mashed potatoes, lemony sauce, and broccoli. Sounds a little unusual but it worked and was delicious! Dessert did not disappoint - homemade (no box mix or mass-produced cake) chocolate cake that was almost like a trifle but of chocolate and cream on a base layer of chocolate cake. The apple cake was served warm with cream and ice cream. Lovely deck with a view of the mountain or fjord and a little play area for small children to keep them occupied. Owner/chef works hard to get the items out and is very pleasant.

We really enjoyed our meals at Baalee. Iwona was more than happy to accommodate our vegan and vegetarian requests. The food was fresh and flavourful. The service was super quick. It was a bit pricey but not too bad by Norwegian standards (2 of us ordered cider and we ordered a large salad to share). We ordered the fish soup, smoked trout salad, vegetarian pasta, grilled salmon, and tomato soup. Everything was excellent and the portions were big. We would definitely recommend.

I'd say this is the best restaurant in Balestrand, for its delicious food, superb service and incredibly fair pricing given the stellar quality. By accident, we stumbled upon it for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The menu is brimming with tantalizing choices. We indulged in delightful tomato and fish soups for lunch. They taste perfect!! The proprietor, Iwona, was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Noticing my vegetarian preference, she graciously suggested modifications to several menu items. Consequently, we returned for dinner. Iwona cooked up this irresistibly tasty vegetarian pasta. Her homemade lemonade offered a refreshing end to a sweltering day. Should we find ourselves in Balestrand again, we'll certainly revisit this dining establishment.

We stoped by this resturant because the pork shank on the menu sounded good. It was! The cranberry sause on the pork shank was very tasty. My husband ordered the chicken, we have never tasted such tender, moist chicken. They did not have a bug wine selection but what they had accompanied the meal well.

Excellent experience at Baalee for dinner! My party of 4 consisted of 2 adults, a teen, and a child under 10, and everybody greatly enjoyed their meals. We had the tomato soup with fresh focaccia (x2, pictured), Bergen fish soup with fresh focaccia, a burger + potatoes, the smoked salmon meal, and the chicken pasta (pictured). Amazing food, beautiful view from the deck on the side of the building, and the service was kind and fast. Highly recommend!

Excellent food, smiling service and good value for money by Norwegian standards. Our 2x dinner cost about 600 Kr which was decent. We didn’t need a reservation. Pasta with scampi, baked chicken, chicken salad, grilled salmon - all were very tasty.

Nice restaurant and very nice ladies but the fish soup was average… and I didn’t finish my soup when she came with the baked salmon (main course!) so I had to quickly finish my soup so I don’t eat a cold salmon and smashed potatoes. The apple juice was bad quality unfortunately (I’m an expert in apple juice).
The service was good though.
