We loved our stay here. Bridget was a very welcoming host and it was nice to meet some of her family and share stories. We had 6 and 10 year old girls with us and they were welcome to use their boardgames or do their drawing in the common room. We opted for dinner which was simple but lovely and the breakfast that's included is delicious with fresh bread and homemade jam. Definitely recommended.

Bridget is the best host - the coziest bed and breakfast in the most beautiful area - highly recommended. If you want a faceless chain hotel with zero personality, look elsewhere.

Yövyin täällä yhden yön heinäkuussa 2025 moottoripyörämatkallani Bergenistä Lillehammeriin ja pidin kovasti paikan kotitunnelmasta. Tällaisessa paikassa pääsee paljon lähemmäs paikallista elämää ja historiaa kuin ketjuhotelleissa. I loved the place. Felt like home. Breakfast was included and had a variety of amazing Norwegian bread. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. The bedroom was very comfortable and had a good sleep. I had originally booked for a day earlier but couldn't make it due to flight disruptions, and she was kind enough to offer me a refund. She was also willing to wake up in the middle of the night to let me check in at 3 AM, but in the end, I decided to stay in Bergen (due to the toad closures which she informed me about), and she offered me a refund. Stayed their next day, met her beautiful family, and it just felt like home.

Excellent homestay. Place is clean and beds are comfortable. Best of all, the host is knowledgeable, welcoming and a fantastic cook. Dinner is delicious with the salmon beautifully done and breakfast is generous with freshly baked homemade bread.
To those who want to know more about the Norwegian way of life, this place is a very good option for an overnight stay in stead of Bergen and Voss. The house is easily accessible by public transport.

Had such a lovely time here! Felt very welcome and felt at home talking to the host and other guests. Breakfast was so satisfying, with a great taste of local products. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided as it is a shared space. There are quite a bit of stairs to get to the rooms so I would keep that in mind. The neighborhood is very safe and picturesque, and there is a grocery store walking distance from the house. The pub downstairs is open on Saturday nights and the drinks, games, and company were great. Would recommend to anyone!

We arrived late in the evening and found the house and the host equally lovely! After a few hours it already felt like a home to us and we had great conversations just about many a thing. Very glad to have stayed here at this special place! We are leaving with a strong desire to return another time.

When I booked at this b and b for the night of 07/03, we received this message from the host: "However, Rongahuset is not a hotel, so please cancel if you actually want a hotel... We do not wish to receive a bad review if it is only because you didn't want to stay in a family home!". It did not register with me as I had no clue what it means, until we arrived. I wish the host simply told us the condition of the b and b directly.

The aupair gentleman was very nice and shown us around the house.

The stairs are steep, which is not unuaual. Our room is on the third floor. There is no trash bin in the room. The host explained that trash goes into four separate bins in the kitchen on the second floor. I asked for a paper bag. I got one. Coming down from the third floor, the stairwell starts before the handrail starts.

The bath room is shared among three rooms, one of them is the aupair's, as we were told. There is a shelf of half empty shampoo and body wash bottlles. Everyone gets to pick from it to use. It would be nice if there were hooks on the bathroom wall to hang clothes.

The shower is not in a stall. It is in open space in the bath room. One should take care not to splash water too far out. Two towels were provided for each guest. One of the towels was extreme worn and rough.

The bed linens were clean. But the beds sag.

The window curtain is not room darkening.

The hallway and the dining room are full of household items. We had trouble finding room to put our shoes to leave them on first floor. The house is due for a cleanning. But I would eastimate the business have to be shut down for an extended time to do it properly.

The breakfast was pulled out of the fridge. Bread, crackers, jam, sliced ham and cheese. There is milk and coffee.

Our room faces the main road and takes in road noise. The host kindly provided ear plugs, by default. There is no closet. There are four window panes. One of them can be opened. So I opened it to get fresh air. I noticed that to secure it in place a metal wire is used, with each end wrapped on a nail, one on the pane, one on the frame. The door handle should have a sheath wrapped around the metal core. The sheath is missing. But the metal core could still be used to operate the door. As the metal core of the handle has bumped into the wall, there is a hole on the wall.

The entire village was parked full of cars. This was very impressive when we drove through them leaving in the morning.

It would be unfair to google review readers if I do not write this review.
